I got the "hideous chicken" back from my aunt - too funny!
I'm glad I got it ... it grows on you and I was missing it!

When I was young my family use to do this too. We passed that dang white elephant around for years!!! It was fun!!

I think you are missing the idea here - When I got the "hideous chicken" last Summer for my Aunt, it was a white elephant gift, but we had it in the house for two weeks before the housewarming party. In that time I grew fond of the evil, glowing bird.
I was thrilled to get it back and I don't think it will be leaving my house for a long long while :)
BWAHahaha - it DOES look good in the guest room!
